Where Are They Now? Jenifer Cortés

Last year, Jenifer Cortés spent eight months serving on Disciple Daily's Fellowship Team. During that season, she immersed herself in God's Word, learned to study the Bible as one unified story pointing to Jesus, and discovered what it means to make disciples through everyday relationships.

That season wasn't the finish line.

It was one step in the journey God has been writing in her life.

Today, Jenifer is pursuing God's call to full-time missions through Antioch Discipleship School. This summer, she served in Myanmar, where she experienced firsthand that God is already at work long before we arrive.

Here's part of what Jenifer shared with us.

"God reminded me that living on mission begins with prayer."

One simple prayer became part of our daily routine:
"Lord, You are already at work. Lead us to someone who is hungry to know You." Then we walked the streets, talked with people, and trusted God to open the right conversations.

One day we met a Muslim taxi driver. As we shared a story about Jesus, he began to cry and asked, "How do I receive Jesus as my Savior?"

Another day we met Pho Pho, a young woman who carried the pain of losing her father when she was only five years old. She chose to follow Jesus that day.Since then, she has continued meeting with believers in her city and recently shared that she no longer feels alone. She told us she prayed to Jesus, and He answered her prayer immediately—showing her that He is real.

Looking back, I realize God has been preparing me for moments like these. My time on the Fellowship Team helped me understand that following Jesus isn't just about learning the Bible. It's about walking with Him every day and inviting others to discover Him too.

Myanmar reminded me that living on mission doesn't start when you board a plane. It begins wherever God has already placed you.

One Story Continues

One of the greatest gifts of disciple-making is watching God continue writing someone's story long after one season ends.

Jenifer hopes to one day return home to Oaxaca, Mexico, where her desire is to spend her life making disciples in her own community.

We're grateful that Disciple Daily could be one chapter in that journey, and we're excited to see where God leads her next.

Please join us in praying for Jenifer as she continues preparing for a lifetime of ministry.
