How does one ask for forgiveness? How do we apologize in a world that's so corrupt? It's hard, difficult, impossible even. We don't think about anyone's feelings except our own. We turn on each other when things go haywire and don't care about the feelings or have compassion for others. In my time here, it's been a difficult journey of asking for forgiveness. Because I often believe that they don't deserve the forgiveness that I’m extending towards them. But it's the same way with Jesus towards us. He didn't have to forgive us for putting Him on that cross. As matter a of fact He didn't even have to go on that cross. He could’ve disobeyed God The Father and passed on the cup. But He didn't, He took the brunt load of all of our sins so we can get reconnected to and with Him.
This blog is short and sweet, and I don't want to hear anything about it. I’ve learned that even though we think people who've hurt us don't deserve an apology, it's not for them. The apology is for us. As humans, we are prone to be prideful in our ways, especially when someone hurts us and judges us. We are quick to hold a grudge towards someone without them even knowing. I’m a prime example of that. I’ve held a couple of grudges in my time towards people who either did me wrong or those who don't even know they did me wrong. Sometimes I hate being human, I hate being born into sin, but that's just the way it is right now. But why harp on that when Jesus came to give us a second chance? Why harp and meditate on the fact someone hurt you? Trust me I KNOW it hurts. Those trauma wounds are so sensitive that you don't want anyone to touch them. My good brother Keyshawn said to me the other day, “It's hard when we have trauma wounds in our heart because as soon as someone does something we hate or don’t like we are quick to cast some sort of judgment or insecurity on that person who touched us.”
But I’m here to tell you there’s this doctor, who has been working before you were even alive that knows what you're going through. He knows how to treat your wounds like no other. He has the loving ointment and gentle care that can be applied to you DAILY! Trust me I know, I’ve been carrying this burden of unforgiveness for over 16 years! 16!!!! But the crazy thing is, He knows how to treat those untouched wounds that no one knows how to care for. He’s the remedy for all the hurt you are going through. All the drugs and alcohol and sexual tension that we have built up. We don't have to resort to any of that because He is the answer to all of your problems. He’s that missing piece in that spacious void of your heart that you’ve been searching for. So why keep searching? I would be lying if I told you I didn't explore those options of drugs and sex and murder. But what would I gain…. NOTHING!!! At the end of the day, it just led me right back to defeat, right back to those empty nights where I thought I was happy and joyful, but I wasn't. I wanted to end the hurting so bad but I didn't know how until I met the Man named Jesus. He’s the one that picked me up with the wounds in His hands and the lashes on His back. He smiled every time I fell and didn’t blink, didn't remove that smile from His face. He continued to call me His friend, His brother, His SON.
Truly I tell you, the only way, truly the only way you can experience this type of true love is by asking for forgiveness. Forgive that brother who hurt you, that sister who you can't stand, or even that mother/father who has hurt you time and time again. Is it going to be hard? Of course not, if you're a Christian. You have The Spirit of The Living God living within you to give you the desires and the passions to forgive an individual along with the words to match. Now for unbelievers or people who have walked away from the faith it will be hard, I ain't gonna lie. But there's this guy named Jesus who wants to come into your life and help clean you up. He forgave you already, what’s taking you so long to come to forgiveness? And NO I am not condemning anyone, but I do hope this message convicts you to the point you turn to God and change your ways. He came so we can live life and live it abundantly, why miss that chance with a little unforgiveness in your heart? That's exactly what Satan wants you to do, to stay in that unforgiveness so we can perish in Hell with him. It's time for us to rise up and step on his head like Jesus did. We have the ability to trample on snakes and scorpions, so why not do it starting today!
CHALLENGE OF THE WEEK
Go to God and ask Him who is it that you need to forgive. Whose forgiveness needs to be cleared off of your “record”?
